Modernization of warehouse at ČSAD Uherské Hradiště a.s. with AC WMS and Dynamics 365

AC WMS on the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central platform helps to optimize warehouse processes and reduces the error rate of warehouse operations. This is now an essential part of ČSAD Uherské Hradiště a.s.

The core activity of ČSAD Uherské Hradiště a.s. is the provision of international truck transport. In addition, the company provides logistics and warehouse services to its customers. This Czech company currently has more than 300 employees in various parts of the country and at its foreign entity in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Initial situation and project goals

In the past, ČSAD Uherské Hradiště a.s. used an older and unsupported version of Microsoft Dynamics for warehouse records in combination with a WMS system from another partner that did not fully meet the new needs of ČSAD. Since the warehouse processes had to be innovated, they decided to choose a partner they already knew from the implementation of a transport solution on the Microsoft Dynamics platform. We provided them with a newer and more modern solution suitable for their warehouse, delivering them the latest version of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and our warehouse management solution AC Warehouse Management System (WMS).

Implementation of the new solution helped the company to set up a new WMS warehouse system that was better than the previous system. The objective was to achieve a digital warehouse and accelerate communication, for example, by connecting all systems via EDI. It was made possible to use scanners in the warehouse, which significantly accelerated the work of warehouse workers and reduced their error rates. Another success was achieving a paperless warehouse, along with the overall digitization of all processes associated with storage, outbound process and other administration.

Description of the solution

Mobile application

The entire system works in a mobile application that is clear, intuitive, and easy to control. The application includes a QR and barcode reader, so it can be used as a scanner. As a result, the warehouse workers are now better oriented in the warehouse and use the reader to check if they are handling the right warehouse item to reduce the error rate.

Receipts and inbound goods

In the mobile application, the warehouse worker simply receives the goods using the scanner. Each warehouse item has a unique code that corresponds to its number in the system. From the information that is hidden under the code, you can find a batch, serial number, or expiration date.

When goods are received they are entered into the logistics unit, and stored in a specific compartment. The inbound process or storage of the goods in the compartment is completed by loading the barcode of the logistics unit. After loading the code, the appropriate document is found and the storage recorded.

Outbound and dispatch

The system supports different methods of outbound process, e.g. FIFO. Part or all of the entire unit can be outbound. The system works with different inventory information such as batch or serial number.

Stock-taking and print outputs

The system enables stock-taking. During the stock-take, the worker loads the compartment, logistics unit, goods, and enters the quantity. Inventory of one compartment can be independently performed by two workers.

Before comparing the loaded items with the status in the system, it is possible to first compare the results of the groups that carried out the stock-taking of one compartment. In AC WMS you can easily create print outputs and reports.

Operation in the cloud

The current version of the system is also available in the cloud and the operation is possible without complicated updates. The data is kept in modern data centres at maximum safety. Customers are not worried about the maintenance and operation of the infrastructure.
